The Technique Behind the Tradition
Chinese brush painting is created by layering several colors onto the calligraphy brush at once. The brush is laid down and the pressure on the brush manipulated, moving across the absorbent rice paper to create the desired effect. There is no drawing ahead of time and no going over if you make a mistake. This creates the desired transparency and flow of colors within one stroke.
